WHAT'S THAT? COFFEE IS ACTUALLY GOOD FOR YOU?!

Australians love their coffee☕. There’s no denying that most people enjoy coffee each morning (and mid morning, lunchtime, the 3pm drag, after work and after dinner! or is that just me?!), and you don’t have to scroll far down your Instagram feed to see a post from someone craving a little (insert big) cup of this magical beverage☕!

Lucky for us coffee has actually proven to be really healthy! Besides needing that early morning pick-me-up here are some other reasons to wake up and smell the coffee:

Coffee is high in antioxidants. Although fruits and vegetables are too, some regular coffee drinkers get most of their antioxidants from coffee☕!

It enhances brain function. We all know that coffee contains caffeine. Caffeine is a stimulant that acts in the brain to increase alertness, boost mood, improve reaction time and reduce tiredness.

Coffee may actually help prevent a lot of nasty disease such as Type 2 Diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s, liver cirrhosis and fatty liver disease. Some studies have even shown that coffee drinkers live longer☕!

Coffee makes us happier! Some research has found that people who drink 4 cups of coffee per day are 10% less likely to develop anxiety or depression. Interestingly this seems to be separate from the “caffeine high” we experience, as the same results were not found for other caffeinated beverages.

Obviously we have to be careful of what else we put in our coffee, and if you’re ordering any kind of flavoured coffee they are usually laden with sugar and fat so steer away from those types. All that being said it seems coffee is actually quite good for your health☕!

So what’s the moral of the story? Coffee is the best thing ever, so go and make yourself another cup (or two!) ☕.
