If you are a regular on Instagram like us, you may have seen a new wellness trend circulating featuring CBD or Hemp Oil in products such as skincare, drinks and vitamins. So what exactly is it, is it even legal in Australia, and what are the benefits for you?
To break it down, CBD or Cannabidiol is extracted from the non-drug strain of a cannabis plant and has been shown to have various benefits such as minimising anxiety and inflammation. When used topically such as in skincare, it can also be super hydrating, and minimise acne and scarring. Sounds too good to be true, right? Unfortunately due to trace amounts of THC in CBD oil (the ingredient that causes the high in cannabis), it is still not legal in Australia.
Hemp oil, on the other hand, contains 0% THC so as a result is legal in Australia and boasts the same benefits as CBD when used in skincare. It is also great in treating eczema, psoriasis and other inflammatory skin conditions, so is a great alternative to use legally here in Australia until CBD is legalised!
