Continue ShoppingThe early morning workout sounds great in theory. But in reality dragging yourself out of bed before the sun rises can be a little challenging! However, there are many awesome benefits to working out in the morning. Exercising first thing, especially outside, can help you sleep better at night, help you burn more fat, and boost your mood for the rest of the day knowing you’ve kicked things off in such a positive way. But how do you actually make a morning workout happen!?
Get ready – Having your workout gear easy to access first thing in the morning is a must! Have it all packed and ready to go. I’ve even heard some people go as far as actually sleeping in their gym clothes!
Get your sleep right – If you’re a bit of a night owl then you may need to slightly adjust your sleep routine if you want to exercise in the mornings. Start going to bed a bit earlier each night. This will ensure that you’re still getting enough sleep and don’t feel groggy all day!
Exercise more efficiently – It is unlikely that you are going to have time for a 90 minute gym sess before work, so you need to make the most of the 30 minutes you have! Pick something short like an interval session or a quick circuit so that you’re making the most of your time. You can even get amazing benefits by sprinting up stairs for 5 minutes!
Get to know your stomach – Some people can eat before a morning workout and feel fine, others find that it makes them feel sick. Trial both and see what works for you!
Don’t snooze – Try not to hit the snooze button too often... Make your alarm tone one of your favourite songs and get out of bed when you hear it!
With a bit of prep and practice you can feel the satisfaction of becoming a morning workout person!
