Continue ShoppingTry starting your day with something you find relaxing and enjoyable. Running out the door in a rush raises your blood pressure, anxiety levels and can leave you feeling stressed for the rest of the day! Take some time first thing in the morning to do something relaxing. It could be having a coffee and reading the paper or maybe taking your dog (or cat!) for a walk. Making a vow to do something you find enjoyable each morning will help you carry those relaxed vibes throughout the rest of your day.
Breathe in … breathe out
Next time you’re feeling stressed, take 5 minutes to just breeeathe. Slow, deep, controlled breaths will lower your blood pressure and heart rate, reduce your stress hormones and increase your feelings of calmness and well-being. I have recently downloaded a great app called 'Headspace' which takes you through guided breathing exercises for 10 minutes a day. It’s certainly helped me during my more, err, stressful moments!
Treat yourself daily
Taking time out of your day to do small things just for you can make a huge difference! This might be taking a quick walk in the afternoon to buy a nice coffee or planning to read a trashy magazine after work. Having a few little joys in life to look forward to will help keep you stress free!
Add a little more sunlight to your life
Get outside and take advantage of our beautiful Australian sun to add a little more Zen to your life. Soaking up some Vitamin D boosts your happy hormones and will increase your calcium absorption, making your bones super strong! Taking a walk in nature will also substantially reduce your levels of stress hormones compared to a walk in the concrete jungle.
